David Bowie Dies at 69 After a Battle with Cancer
The legendary music icon passes away two days after his birthday and the release of his 25th album, ‘★’

English music legend David Bowie passed away on January 10th due to cancer. According to an official statement issued on his social media profiles, Bowie died peacefully after a 18-month-long battle with cancer. It said:
“David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer. While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief.”
The news of Bowie’s death has come two days after his birthday and the release of his latest album, ★ (Blackstar). Noted for his immense and revolutionary contribution to music and art, Bowie made a name for himself as a glam rock icon, pop star, singer-songwriter, music producer. In his career spanning four decades, Bowie released 25 studio albums and several live records, singles and compilations. He is best known for his 1972 album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars, which established his alter ego, Ziggy Stardust. Hailed as one of the most influential modern music icons, Bowie was ranked number 23 on Rolling Stone’s “100 Greatest Artists of All Time” in 2004. The singer has won a number of Platinum, Gold and Silver album honors from both UK and USA throughout his career and he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996.
Bowie’s second single off ★, titled “Lazarus” released just three days ago.
