By EDM standards, Deadmau5 has had a quiet 2013 but that’s about to change. “I’ve been going hardcore on production. I’ve got six, seven, eight, nine, 10 songs,” he told Rolling Stone recently.
That new material is part of the DJ’s plans for a big 2014, which will include new music, a tour and more surprises. Fans jonesing for music from the Canadian superstar (born Joel Zimmerman) can get a small fix when he releases two new songs, “Your Ad Here” and “Suckfest 9001,” on November 12th as part of the mau5trap compilation We Are Friends. The album, which will also feature Zimmerman teaming with Steve Duda as BSOD, among others, will mark his debut on the electronic label Astralwerks, home of the Chemical Brothers, Fatboy Slim and Kraftwerk, to name a few fellow celebrated electronic artists.
For Deadmau5, Astralwerks is the perfect place to take both his own music and those on his mau5trap imprint. “I found a place that knows what to do with my music,” he said.
Deadmau5 also wants to resume touring in 2014 and promised it will be an extravaganza in line with his previous productions. ”I’ve been waiting a year and a half for the technology to catch up to what I want to do,” he said. “I’m still waiting.”Â
