EDM veteran Deadmau5 will not be performing in Mumbai this week, with organizers Sunburn announcing that the concert on July 12 stands canceled.
The official reason for the cancelation is VIP movement in the city around the concert dates. Sunburn said in a statement, “The Honorable Prime Minister of India is visiting the city around the scheduled event date, and therefore the planned venue is no longer available for use as per directives issued by the relevant authorities.”
All tickets will be refunded in full and the organizers add that they will work “to try and find a window to bring deadmau5 back to India soon.”
The Canadian artist was scheduled to make his return to India as part of gig series Sunburn Arena, performing an exclusive show at Mumbai’s Nesco Centre in Goregaon this month, with the announcement coming in May.
The artist was last in India a decade ago to perform, as part of a three-city Sunburn Arena tour in March 2014. A press release for the 2024 event stated that Deadmau5 was “set to return with an immersive audio-visual spectacle that showcases his signature sound and unparalleled stage presence, promising to captivate audiences once again.”
