“Pegging isn’t new for me, friendo. But it is for Disney…”
With that Wade Wilson/Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) introduces himself to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the new trailer for Wolverine & Deadpool, premiering during Super Bowl LVIII.
Yes, while his wife Blake Lively watched the big game between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers in one of Allegiant Stadium’s suites with pal Taylor Swift in Las Vegas, Reynolds debuted his blockbuster film, in theaters July 26th.
Directed by Shawn Levy, the trailer sees Deadpool be recruited into the MCU by a Time Variance Authority agent, played by Succession’s Matthew Macfadyen, who shows him flashes of other Marvel superheroes, from Hulk to Captain America, at the TVA headquarters. We also see a couple of flashes of Hugh Jackman’s Logan/Wolverine, first at a gambling table and then as his shadow looms over an injured Deadpool. There’s also plenty of gunplay, naturally.
The film is rumored to feature the return of Jennifer Garner’s Elektra Natchios (Daredevil) as well as The Crown’s Emma Corrin as the lead villain and Brianna Hildebrand as teen X-Men member Negasonic Teenage Warhead.
“Your little Cinematic Universe is about to change forever. I am the Messiah. I am… Marvel Jesus,” utters Deadpool.
