Deep Purple Add Delhi NCR Show for Bandland Arena
The U.K. veteran band will perform a headline set in Gurugram on December 15th, with tickets going live on November 6th
Deep Purple have announced a second India show in Gurugram on December 15th ahead of their return to the country as part of Bengaluru festival Bandland. The rock/metal veterans are slated to headline the Bandland Arena concert at Gurugram’s Airia Mall alongside New Delhi rock act Parikrama, with tickets going on sale on November 6th via BookMyShow.
Earlier in October, Deep Purple – who shaped rock and metal in the early Seventies and Eighties with songs like “Smoke On The Water,” “Highway Star,” “Perfect Strangers” and “Black Night” that brought inimitable riffs – were announced as headliners for the inaugural edition of Bandland Festival in Bengaluru. Slated for December 16th and 17th at Embassy International Riding School, Deep Purple share the lineup billing with the likes of American rock band Goo Goo Dolls, indie favorites The War on Drugs, Australian punk act Amyl and the Sniffers and Indian rock’s leading acts.
Deep Purple’s vocalist Ian Gillan says in a statement, “I’m very excited to be going back to India, it’s been years and I can’t wait! I’ve carried the spirit of India with me ever since I did it last time.” The band behind songs like “Hush” most notably performed in India in 1995, with the concert footage becoming a part of their DVD box set Around the World Live, titled Bombay Calling, India 1995.
BookMyShow’s live entertainment chief of business Owen Roncon added about the second Deep Purple show, “Our decision to bring Deep Purple to Gurugram for Bandland Arena ahead of their performance at Bandland is a direct response to the incredible groundswell of consumer interest and conversations surrounding their return to India.”
