‘It was truly a dream come true,’ says vocalist and founder Ashish Chauhan
It’s been an eventful end to the year for New Delhi act The Delhi Indie Project, who recently opened for Canadian rock legend Bryan Adams at his show in the capital on Dec. 12, 2024.
Other cities on Adams’ six-city So Happy It Hurts India Tour brought in the likes of pop artist Vidya Vox in Mumbai, Shillong band Blue Temptation, Bengaluru pop-rock band Best Kept Secret Goan band Black in White, and more. The Delhi Indie Project, like their peers, got to perform to thousands who had packed the venue for the Canadian hitmaker.
The band’s founder and lead vocalist Ashish Chauhan says in a statement, “Opening for Bryan Adams in New Delhi was truly a dream come true for Delhi Indie Project. Sharing the stage with such a legendary rock voice was both an incredible honor and a source of immense pride. As we took the stage, the atmosphere in the packed arena was electric, with thousands of music enthusiasts eager to enjoy a night filled with unforgettable tunes. This experience has ignited our passion and creativity, and we eagerly anticipate many more milestones on our journey ahead.”
Prior to the Bryan Adams opening gig, The Delhi Indie Project – who are known for delivering everything from indie-rock to Bollywood cover to Indian classical elements – had released a “Main Teri Yaad (Reprise)” with singer-songwriter Srijita Konar taking over from the original early 2024 version of the song led by vocalist-founder Chauhan.
For the music video, the band headed to the Lahaul and Spiti Valley in Himachal Pradesh. Chauhan says about the recent release, “The experience of filming the song in Himachal was truly remarkable. Despite the temperature at the location plummeting to -8 degrees Celsius, the dedicated team maintained a positive attitude throughout the process. This marks my first original collaboration with Srijita, and I am extremely excited for the upcoming release.”
