Mumbai extreme metal band Demonic Resurrection have announced the title and worldwide release dates for their fourth full-length album, The Demon King.

DR’s fourth album, the follow up to 2010’s Return To Darkness, is the beginning of a new story after the end of the Darkness trilogy. Makhija said in May last year, “The themes and concepts are still a work in progress, but the idea of darkness remains. The album is more character-based this time, and each song is like a chapter.” The frontman, who is helming production, mixing and mastering on The Demon King, started recording drumming, bass and keyboards in March last year.

Prior to releasing The Demon King, DR will be performing at international festivals, starting  with Dubai Rock Fest on May 23rd, followed by an appearance at rock and heavy metal festival Les Fest in Scotland between June 27th and 29th. Makhija has also been plotting a Europe tour for a while and after the launch of The Demon King, DR will play at Germany’s prestigious Wacken Open Air in August. The gigs will be DR’s first international shows with new lead guitarist Nishith Hegde [from heavy metal band Albatross], who replaced Daniel Rego in January. While Makhija has hinted that there will be eight or nine tracks on The Demon King, the entire tracklist and first single from the album will be announced in May.

The Demon King will release on July 13th in India on Universal Music, followed by a worldwide release on July 14th on Candlelight Records.
