Demonic Resurrection To Play Bloodstock

Taking their Mumbai”“born melodic death metal sound to the world stage has been a long-standing dream of local heroes Demonic Resurrection. The band played its first international fest in 2010. In fact, they played two festivals that year ”“ the Inferno Metal Festival in Norway in April and the Brutal Assault in Czech Republic in August. This year, Demonic Resurrection ready to play Bloodstock Open Air, U.K.’s biggest metal festival which is held over four days and three stages, in Derbyshire, U.K.

This year, the festival will be held from August 9^th to 12^th. Demonic Resurrection will play on the final day at the Sophie Lancaster Stage. “I’ve spoken before, on how excited I was to be playing a music festival, and then ended up eating humble pie. But this is the biggest festival a metalhead can play at,” says Demonic Resurrection’s frontman Sahil Makhija or Demonstealer as he is known. In 2011, the band had been invited to play at the Sonisphere Festival in the U.K. after winning the Metal Hammer Golden God Global Metal award but the band were forced to cancel after being denied visas. This time around, Bloodstock is significant to the band’s career graph because they will be playing the second stage, the Sophie Lancaster stage.  “We will be sharing stage with the likes of Pythia, Derision, Orange Goblin and many such brilliant acts,” adds Makhija.

Makhija is particularly looking forward to catching his metal legends like Nile, Behemoth, Alice Cooper, Nile, Dimmu Borgir, Machine Head and Testament in concert. “One of the biggest things you can take back from playing a major festival is the tour-van camaraderie you share with your favorite bands. It’s such a fantastic metal brotherhood and you see vans of bands parked all over,” he says.

Europe, feels the band, is the right market to sell their brand of metal comparable to Cradle of Filth, Emperor and Dimmu Borgir. Their Darkness trilogy of albums ”“ A Darkness Descends, Beyond The Darkness and The Return To Darkness paraphrases story-telling on melody replete with dramatic vocals and distorted chopping, packed with tremolo picking and blast beats ”“ just the kind of sound that Eastern Europe is accustomed to, explains Makhija.

“The sound is something they are familiar with since it falls in the genre. But how they accept a foreign band playing it is something I am curious to find out,” he adds.

Back home, the band is currently working on putting their fourth album in place and plan to begin recording sometime this month. “It’s a new story and a new sound. We are still figuring out where it’s going. Hopefully, we should be able to record it before we head out to U.K. We are working towards releasing it sometime in February 2013.”
