Dhvani Bhanushali in the video for her latest song "Thank You God."
Pop artist Dhvani Bhanushali steps into the wild wild west in the music video for “Thank You God,” her latest single about self-love and gratitude.
Punchy horn sections, hooksteps and lyrics in English, Punjabi and Hindi make for a vibrant offering from Bhanushali, who previously released the Punjabi dance song “Hold On” earlier this month with composer-producer Sunny M.R. and songwriter Youngveer.
With “Thank You God,” Bhanushali goes international in a sense, teaming up with songwriters and composers including David Arkwright, Natania Lalwani, Miranda Glory Inzunza and Shloke Lal. Arkwright also includes a rap segment on the track, making for a genre-blending listen. Although the rap does leave a little bit to be desired. It’s 2024 and we’re still seeing lyrics like “She the Snake Charmer” about an Indian artist.
A press release for the song states, “‘Thank You God’ serves as a powerful reminder for listeners, especially women, to embrace their inner beauty and value themselves.”
The music video starts with Bhanushali catching a glimpse of herself in the mirror as she preps for a shoot, finding it as good a time as any to thank god for the way she turned out. Previously, a teaser for the song and video was dropped on Bhanushali’s 26th birthday, March 22nd.
The full video is directed by Piyush and Shazia, who have also worked with Bhanushali on her 2021 release “Mera Yaar.” From the old West tow being emulated to a stepwell and more, the vividness of “Thank You God” certainly comes through.
‘Thank You God’ is now available on all major streaming platforms and is released under the label Hitz Music, founded by Bollywood producer Vinod Bhanushali.
