After the success of a glorious season two that received a whopping 50,000 entries, India’s biggest digital talent hunt Smule Mirchi Cover Star is back with edition three – this time with offerings that any budding musician will find hard to resist. The singing reality show is tapping into India’s incredible multi-cultural fabric to look for artists who are unique and promising. The 45-day talent hunt is launched by Mirchi, India’s leading entertainment company and Smule Inc, the global leader in interactive music creation.

With an aim to empower artists, Smule Mirchi Cover Star is creating a robust platform to spotlight young talent. The application for the contest couldn’t be easier: artists have to download Smule, the social singing app, and choose from from a specially curated Smule Mirchi Cover Star playlist. To make the process easier, the app provides a pitch guide to help singers stay in tune, and a variety of audio and video effects to look and sound their best. Once they have recorded their favourite song, all they have do is fill in a few details and they have entered the contest.

The winner’s prize is the kind of stuff music dreams are made of. The Smule Mirchi Cover Star will perform at the 13th Annual Mirchi Music Awards in Mumbai, in the presence of industry veterans. They will also get a chance to be featured in a music video and launch a song launch with a reputed music label, in addition to a cash prize of Rs. 3 lacs.

Nandan Srinath, Executive President, Mirchi, says, “The electric response we received in terms of entries in the previous seasons have been a big motivation in making Season 3 much bigger and better. This season will witness the grandeur of a bigger set of judges, bigger competition and bigger prizes. Partnering with Smule yet again this year makes participation easier and brings on board their vast community of music lovers. We are constantly excited with the strides Smule is making, and always enjoy working with them on Mirchi Cover Star.”

Keeping with its theme #AawaazDegiPehchaan, the Smule Mirchi Cover Star aims to unearth fresh voices from across the nation with the help of technology. It is breaking geographical barriers to connect aspiring musicians to the world of Bollywood music, where there is a perpetual demand for unique music talent. This third season also features an all-star cast of judges who will help pick India’s next singing sensation: composer duo Meet Bros, the soulful singer Harshdeep Kaur, playback hit machine Neeti Mohan and the ravishing Kanika Kapoor. The top five contestants will move to the next level, where they will perform live for the celebrity judges in an on-ground event in Mumbai. The judges will root and pick their favourite contestant, leading the nation in discovering its next music icon.
