‘Same Old Conversation’ Three Stars www.myspace.com/dischordiant
Dischordian is Garreth D’Mello’s solo side project ”“ a chance for him to unleash his, excuse the pun, mellow side. As the frontman of Split, D’Mello’s protesting growl finds a cause, while Dischordian satisfies his soulful alter ego. A moony D’Mello croons “Everything can go to hell/At least until we sort this out/You and me babe/That’s what I wanna talk about.” D’Mello’s vocals resonate with quivering sentiment, referencing the likes of Adam Duritz and Darius Rucker, and bears an uncanny resemblance to the kind of depth brought in by Rucker’s vocals. The lilting guitar acoustics are the perfect canvas for D’Mello to apply his vocals to, though he could have spared us the fake accent and exaggerated vocal nuances in places.
