Kolkata Metallers Disquietude Vengeance Launch Debut Album This Week

Fellow local bands like Survival Through Sufferings, The Unofficial Utopia and Krossbow also feature on the lineup on Oct. 5 at Sujata Sadan

Kolkata death metal band Disquietude Vengeance’s new song “Nocturnal Whispers of Torture” opens with a satirical, self-deprecative podcast show with all kinds of barbs (including one explicit play on their name) but eventually sees the band cut through with their deathcore style.

The video’s description has a message from Disquietude Vengeance, who have been active since 2022, “No clichés. No overused gimmicks. Just pure deathcore metal and a big middle finger to the noise around us.” The band will launch the song and their upcoming debut album Psycho Sadistic Existence on Oct. 5 at Sujata Sudan in Kolkata.

Vocalist Ayan Banerjee says, “We’re excited to perform a bunch of new songs from the album. Featuring seven tracks, this record delves into the darkest corners of mentally cruel thoughts, vengeful hate, and the struggle to move on. We can’t wait to unleash our raw sound this coming Oct. 5. See you at the pit, and let’s bring the energy in numbers! The party is on!”

The launch party also includes fellow rock and metal bands such as Survival Through Sufferings, Krossbow, Blue Lotus Anatomy, Transmutate, Anphinishd and The Unofficial Utopia. The gig – co-organized by local promoters Curiosity Events and Valhalla Events – also has a charity aspect to it, with the organizers initiating a T-shirt collection drive to support underprivileged children. To encourage donations, stickers and bookmarks are being given away to donors.

Curiosity Events founder Susmit Basu tells Rolling Stone India, “Our mission has always been to create memorable experiences that go beyond music, embracing the full spectrum of entertainment and culture.”

The company started off with Kolkata Winter Metal Festival in December 2022 and Basu is also part of rock band Tatva. Basu adds, “We’ve consistently aimed to bring people together through a shared love for art, culture, and purpose. This Saturday’s album launch is not just about showcasing great music, but also about our continued commitment to unite people for a cause, as we pair this celebration with a t-shirt collection drive to support underprivileged children. At Curiosity Events, it’s always been about creating moments that inspire and make a lasting impact.”

Tickets for Disquietude Vengeance’s album launch are available at the door for ₹400. Get event details here.
