Ahead of International Women’s Day, international collective FEMWAV will bring together artists and seasoned music industry professionals for a two-hour online event on March 6th.

DivHersify, described as a “virtual convergence” by FEMWAV, will host a total of eight panelists and their own curators from 11 am to 1 pm this week and is geared towards young female musicians and industry professionals.

Guests include seasoned artist and event manager Ritnika Nayan (also head of CD Baby India), Pune-based singer-songwriter Manasi Manohar, DJ-producer Surbhi Mittal, audio engineer Sumedha Sharma, ethnomusicologist Sebanti Chatterjee and artist manager Desiree Saldanha from entertainment company Third Culture.

A description for the event also describes DivHersify as “a platform to recognize and celebrate talented, hardworking female musicians in the industry, as well as to voice their outlook on the pros and cons of the music business – and envision what it could be.”

The discussion will delve into ground-level realities such as emerging Indian female artists can get booked for gigs and what organizations are doing (and can do) to increase access and participation from women. Another part of the event will offer space for panelists to speak about their experiences in the music industry and interact with audiences tuning in.

DivHersify takes place on March 6th from 11 am to 1 pm online. Join here. Get more details here.
