American prog rockers Dream Theater will make their India debut on October 8th in Mumbai at MMRDA grounds as part of their “Images, Words & Beyond” 25th Anniversary World Tour. Mumbai-based events agency Opium Events confirmed the arrival of the band today. The group are yet to announce the news on their official website.

Organizer Cyrus Gorimar from Opium Events says, “I tried to get them down in 2007 but it didn’t work out for whatever reason. I’ve kept trying and this past April I tried again and finally got them.” Gorimar also tells us that the band are very particular about their sound and are coming to India with almost 9000 kilograms of gear which includes sidefills, sound console, monitors, amps, microphones and cables. “The only thing we are giving is the PA and stage,” says Gorimar.

The news is a dream come true for many Indian fans who have been following the band since their debut 1989 record When Dream And Day Unite. “This is one band a bigger agency should have just lapped up sometime or the other; maybe they didn’t have the vision for it,” says the organizer. He adds, “It’s a once-in-a-lifetime-concert.”

Tickets are set to go live on August 16th on bookmyshow.com
