Dreamcatcher Aims for an October Comeback
Mark your calendars. The face of rock in K-pop will be back with new music soon
Following the success of “Maison” (the lead single off their sophomore album Apocalypse: Save Us) which earned them their first music show win, Dreamcatcher is confirmed to make their comeback next month. The news comes roughly a month after the group successfully concluded their nine-city American tour ‘2022 Dreamcatcher World Tour [Apocalypse: Save us]’.
According to Korean news reports, a representative from DCC (Dreamcatcher Company) shared, “Dreamcatcher is in the midst of preparing with the aim of making a comeback in October.” The forthcoming release will mark the septet’s first comeback in six months since their April release “Maison,” which discussed the ecological disaster and environmental crisis that lurks in our backyard.
Given Dreamcatcher’s affinity for all things horror (fictional or otherwise) and an October comeback on the cards, it’ll be interesting to see whether the group will employ Halloween and horror motifs in their forthcoming comeback. It is also worth noting that the upcoming release will mark the beginning of the second chapter under their ‘Apocalypse’ trilogy, which kick-started with the release of their sophomore album Apocalypse: Save Us.
The album undoubtedly gave us a thorough understanding of what the group stands for as well as their individual sonic identities. In an exclusive interview with Rolling Stone India where the group graced our K-Music Special rock digital cover, Siyeon pointed out the group’s commitment to establishing a more hands-on approach while working on a new album; “We are each trying to increase our participation in the overall production more. It’s the members who know what’s best for Dreamcatcher and what we are striving for in our music.” She continued, “Increasing our involvement will definitely elevate our creativity without straying away from our core concept in our K-pop rock. Making sure that we stay true to our sonic identity and concept is important and what we do best. We will make sure that we continue to grow in order for people to discover new aspects of Dreamcatcher.”
2022 has kept the women of Dreamcatcher on their toes. Shortly after swaying the crowd and becoming the first K-pop group to perform at the 2022 Primavera Sound Barcelona, JiU, SuA, Siyeon, Handong, Yoohyeon, Dami and Gahyeon left for their American tour with the final show sold-out in Mexico.
