Bengaluru Producer-DJ Stalvart John’s Dynamite Disco Club Turns Label
The long-running radio show and event series adds another dimension, starting off with a rousing release from Italian artist Babert
After a few years as a live gig series (which has so far survived the pandemic era), Bengaluru-based DJ and producer Stalvart John’s disco and funk leaning brainchild Dynamite Disco Club has now forayed into the world of record labels.
Originally started as a radio show on online platform Boxout.fm in 2017, Dynamite Disco Club allowed the DJ-producer to host parties all over the country, bringing on fellow DJs as well as himself at festivals and clubs. Perhaps owing to the pandemic in part, John is now taking the disco party right into people’s homes with the label. The first single out on July 23rd is Italian DJ-producer Babert aka Mirco Bertoletti’s shimmering soul-inflected track “Disco Lives,” which is exactly the kind of emphatic and triumphant opening statement you’d expect from Dynamite Disco Club.
The label’s founder says about the launch in a statement, “We want to build a label that people can trust and rely on for good quality House and Disco music in India. The label will act as a bridge connecting homegrown talent to the world and foreign talent to India.” Also on the team is Mumbai DJ Farhan Rehman, ascribed the role of A&R manager. He adds, “The current plan is to put out singles but depending on the response that we receive, we are open to adapting it and look at EPs, albums, or compilations.” The next track from the label is Rehman’s own “disco-jazz inspired offering” called “Disco Segway,” releasing this month.
Dynamite Disco Club is currently inviting house and disco producers to submit music for consideration. In the meantime, “Disco Lives” is one among six releases lined up for the label this year, featuring international and Indian artists.
