Eagles of Death Metal recount the horror and healing of the November 2015 Paris terrorist attack in an upcoming HBO documentary directed by Colin Hanks. The film, Eagles of Death Metal: Nos Amis (Our Friends), debuts domestically on HBO in February and features original music from longtime Queens of the Stone Age contributor Alain Johannes.

Terrorists killed 89 people during the band’s November 13th concert at the Bataclan. But the band, fronted by Jesse Hughes, later returned to Paris for another performance on February 16th, 2016.

Nos Amis begins with the Paris attack before exploring the longtime bond between Hughes and co-founder/Queens of the Stone Age mastermind Josh Homme. The documentary also features U2 members Bono and the Edge, who welcomed Eagles onstage during their Paris concert in December 2015. (“They were robbed of their stage, so we would like to offer them ours,” Bono told the crowd during the show.)

Hanks formed a relationship with Eagles of Death Metal seven years ago after working with the band on his first documentary, 2015’s All Things Must Pass: The Rise and Fall of Tower Records.

After the tragic Paris attacks, Eagles asked friends in other bands to perform covers of their 2015 track “I Love You All the Time” and donate the proceeds to victims. My Morning Jacket, Savages and the Dean Ween Group all contributed to the project.

“The senseless and violent terrorist attacks of November 13th, 2015 in Paris have left us all unsettled and we dare not give another second of precious time to those who have tried to steal our freedoms and take away our power,” Homme wrote in a statement. “Instead, we are writing to ask for your help to ‘Play It Forward.'”
