The Pune soul-pop outfit kicked off their eight-stop adventure in Hyderabad this past weekend
Eight-piece Pune band Easy Wanderlings are all set to embark on a melodic journey woven into a tapestry of soul, pop and folk harmonies. Over the course of this October and November, the musical ensemble will embark on a series of live performances across the country, unveiling a collection of older and unreleased songs.
The band’s 2022 EP Caught in a Parade, which garnered acclaim as one of the standout releases of last year, Easy Wanderlings have firmly established themselves as a noteworthy presence in the Indian indie music scene. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Kings of Convenience, Michael Kiwanuka, and Iron & Wine, the band are known to craft delicate melodies and thought-provoking lyrics, forging a unique niche that has allowed them to share stages with the likes of Jose Gonzales, Anoushka Shankar and Alt J, among others.
Easy Wanderlings kicked off their tour with a gig at Hyderabad’s EXT on October 15th and are set to play seven more gigs from the bustling metropolises of Mumbai, New Delhi, Pune and Chennai to the serene beachfront locales of Varkala and Goa as well as Ahmedabad.
“The most exciting part of the tour is trying out new music that we’ve been working on throughout the year – what works, and what doesn’t,” says composer-guitarist Sanyanth Naroth.” He adds, “We get a chance to really feel out the songs when we perform, before finally putting it down in the studio. We love to see how new audiences react to our music. Good or bad, it really gives us perspective and keeps us on our toes.”
Guitarist Sharad Rao explains, “It’s important to be out there and sharing that experience with fans. We are performers, and there’s nothing more we love than to play live. This tour is also about making people aware of our latest EP Caught in a Parade, and we’re absolutely excited to share them with new listeners.”
