Sid Sriram, Tinariwen, Thaikkudam Bridge, Mezerg and More Set for Echoes of Earth 2023 in Bengaluru

The forthcoming edition of Echoes of Earth Festival aims for multi-genre experiences alongside their message of being more mindful of planet Earth. Taking place on December 2nd and 3rd in Bengaluru, the lineup announced so far includes Indo-American artist Sid Sriram (promoting his new album Sidharth), Tuareg mind-benders Tinariwen, French multi-instrumentalist Mezerg, New York-bred electronic veteran Takuya Nakamura and more.

Among the Indian independent artists tapped for the sixth edition of Echoes of Earth are Kerala’s fusion act Thaikkudam Bridge, Chennai artist Sunflower Tape Machine, New Delhi singer-producer Sijya, pianist Sahil Vasudeva and more. Also on the billing are Indian-origin producer-DJ Jitwam, Germany-based Parra for Cuva, U.K. artist Mansur Brown, Japan’s Matsumoto Zoku Band, Singaporean hip-hop artist Yung Raja, Bristol “techno-punk” duo Giant Swan and several more.

In the run-up to the festival, “minicerts” are expected to be held in Kolkata, Goa and Mumbai. Setting a theme titled “Ensemble of the Wild” this year, Echoes of Earth plans to have more impactful messaging and educational value in the mix, specifically picking up on the “hyperlocal rich biodiversity” of the cities they visit. The theme itself is described as one that “will bring to life the interconnectedness of India’s richest biodiversity hotspot, the Western Ghats.”

Festival director and founder Roshan Netalkar said in a statement that their focus remains on innovating further within the realm of being an annual festival that impacts on-ground change. He adds, “I am also personally very close to this year’s theme of the western ghats which will be brought alive through art and meaningful conversations. And of course we have a variety of incredible live acts across genres, Indian crowd favorites and international acts as well. All culminating into a festival with responsible celebration.”

Tickets for the festival are currently on sale for ₹5,100 for both days. Further artists and mini-cert details are expected to roll out soon.
