Ed Sheeran confirms he’s built his own grave in his back garden

The singer has singled out a plot of land in a chapel built on his estate.

Ed Sheeran has revealed that he has built his own grave in his back garden.

In a new interview with GQ, Sheeran was quizzed about past rumours that a crypt had been built on his £4million estate in rural Suffolk.

The estate, located near Framlingham, is said to feature a pub conversion, a heart-shaped pond and a luxury treehouse after it was developed by the pop giant.

While Sheeran explained he “wouldn’t say it’s a crypt”, he revealed that he has built a chapel to host friends weddings and memorial services for lost friends.

He went on to reveal that he felt a deep connection with the chapel when it was being constructed and consequently decided that it should be his burial place.

“It’s a hole that’s dug in the ground with a bit of stone over it, so whenever the day comes and I pass away, I get to go in there,” he said.

“People think it’s really weird and really morbid, but I’ve had friends die without wills, and no one knows what to do.”

Talk of the crypt first emerged in December 2021, when proposals were submitted to the Dennington Parish Council to build a burial space. The 2.7m by 1.8m plot is said to be the size of a double grave and located at the back of the building.

Elsewhere, Sheeran recently revealed that he once got so high while smoking with Snoop Dogg that he was unable to see.

Ed Sheeran’s latest album came in Autumn Variations, which was released last week and marks his second record of the year and his first since ending the Mathematics series – where his solo albums were respectively titled Plus, Multiply, Divide, Equals and Subtract.
