Ed Sheeran Wants to Collaborate with KING

Ahead of his show in Mumbai, the British pop star says of the “Maan Meri Jaan” hitmaker, “He’s been making waves lately”

Just a few days into visiting India for the third time, Ed Sheeran is making moves and planting seeds to further his association with the country. The latest in that association comes with expressing a desire to work with hip-hop/pop artist KING.

The British pop favorite – who will perform in Mumbai on March 16th at Mahalaxmi Racecourse as part of his + – = ÷ x Mathematics Tour – said in an interview with entertainment portal Zoom that KING is among the Indian artists he’d like to collaborate with.

Sheeran, answering a rapid-fire question about a potential Indian collaboration, said, “It would be King. He has been making waves lately, and he is a very good artist.”

If this Ed Sheeran and King collab came to fruition, it wouldn’t be the first time that the “Maan Meri Jaan” hitmaker is sharing space with international chart-toppers. Last year, KING teamed up with Nick Jonas for “Maan Meri Jaan (Afterlife).” His 2023 album New Life also brought in singer-songwriter Julia Michaels (“Runaway”) and rapper Gucci Mane (“We Are The Ones”).

The news of a potential collaboration comes on the back of Sheeran arriving in India, visiting a school in Mumbai and linking up with pop artist Armaan Malik. The “Shape Of You” singer’s Mumbai concert also includes support from U.K. singer-songwriter Calum Scott and Indian singer-songwriter Prateek Kuhad, plus a 360-degree circular and revolving stage as part of stage production. The setup is one that has traveled with Sheeran across the globe as part of the + – = ÷ x Tour.
