Ed Sheeran to Sell His ‘Cosmic Carpark’ Paintings in London Gallery Show

The funds from the artwork will benefit the singer’s own Ed Sheeran Foundation

Ed Sheeran has announced a show of his Jackson Pollock-inspired paintings in London. The show, titled “Cosmic Carpark Paintings,” will open on July 10 at the Heni Gallery in Soho and will raise money for the singer’s Ed Sheeran Foundation.

“So last year in between shows I was doing these paintings,” Sheeran shared on Instagram alongside a video of him creating the artwork. “I love painting, more for fun and to give to friends, but this time I was encouraged to do a show of them by @damienhirst and @heni. I paint when I’m not working on a record, just to do something creative with my brain. And it’s mostly just splashing colours on canvases, think Jackson Pollock but with colourful house paint. I am by no means ‘an artist’, but I do love making art, it makes me feel great, and I love the end result.”

The show will run until Aug. 1, with the opening set to take place from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 10. Sheeran added, “The paintings are for sale if anyone fancies it, and my proceeds from them will all go into the @edsheeranfnd so art will fund art. I like the idea of that. There’s also prints and other merch available, all quite fun. If you happen to be in soho over the next month pop in.”

The Ed Sheeran Foundation provides music education for young people. The organization provides grants for youth-focused initiatives and advocates for an “inclusive and diverse music education for every child.” The foundation also highlights “the value of music in improving young people’s mental and physical health, social engagement and career pathways, and we work with industry and government partners to strengthen the UK music ecosystem.”

Last week, Sheeran tapped Brendan B. Brown, the lead singer of Wheatus, to perform “Teenage Dirtbag for his concert in Hamburg, Germany. “One of my fav moments ever on stage, thank you Brendan. What a night,” Sheeran noted social media alongside behind-the-scenes footage of the unlikely collaboration.
