Editor’s Pick: Bhayanak Maut’s Epic Salute to Indian Metal on ‘Just A Metal Kid’
The Mumbai metallers team up with Indus Creed frontman Uday Benegal on their new song, which namechecks peers

Mumbai metal band Bhayanak Maut have been teasing their new single “Just a Metal Kid” for a while now, complete with T.V. drama snippets and synopses. The plot of these posts on Instagram took a historical yet fan-boy tone with the band’s favorite peers who helped push Indian metal.
The lyrics for “Just a Metal Kid” reflects exactly that kind of enthusiasm. On it, Bhayanak Maut namechecks extreme metal band Demonic Resurrection, post-hardcore act Scribe, New Delhi tech-groove act Undying Inc, Bengaluru’s thrash/death band Inner Sanctum, prog act Skyharbor and metallers Providence, among others.
The lyrics reference growing up with metal in India — from the moshpits to the BC/MC chants and everything in between. Illustrator and graphic artist Visual Amnesia aka Reuben Bhattacharya adds another dimension with his vibrant, intricate artwork featuring even more easter eggs for metalheads.
The grandiose song also brings in a special guest, with rock veterans Indus Creed‘s frontman Uday Benegal singing a hook on the outro. In a true testament to Bhayanak Maut’s sense of humor, Benegal sings, “A vibe so heavy/It Makes you poop your pants.”
