Editor’s Pick: Gutslit Dig Into Depraved Depths in ‘Altar of Putridity’ Video
The latest music video from the Mumbai death metallers sees vocalist Aditya Barve channel a bit of Jeffrey Dahmer
Mumbai death metallers Gutslit level up with their latest music video off the new album Carnal, with vocalist Aditya Barve channeling a Jeffrey Dahmer-like sinister figure and his psyche for “Altar of Putridity.”
From eerie exposition to macabre elements like skulls, blood and demon-like figures enveloping the protagonist, the video is directed by filmmaker Avinash Jai Singh and produced by Gingerman Entertainment to a bone-chilling degree that’s interspersed with footage of Gutslit performing.
The band says in a statement about the song, “It seeks to shed light on the shocking reality of [Dahmer’s] perverse creativity, as he callously constructed an altar, an unholy sanctuary, fashioned from the remnants of his hapless victims.”
The video for “Altar of Putridity” follows their horror-inspired visual for “The Killing Joke,” with Carnal releasing in July this year. The album features music by outgoing members including guitarist-composer Prateek Rajagopal and lyrics by guitarist Vigneshkumar Venkatraman, plus artwork by drummer Aaron Pinto.
