Editor’s Pick: Sutej Singh Blazes a Trail Into a ‘Land of Gold’ in Comeback Release

A Middle Eastern sonic palette goes over grandiose prog rock on the Solan, Himachal Pradesh-based guitarist-composer's new song and video

Solan, Himachal Pradesh-origin guitarist-composer Sutej Singh delivers a fiery, urgent new instrumental rock song with “Land of Gold,” his first release since the 2018 album The Emerging. It’s our Editor’s Pick this week.

Singh incorporates string arrangements via Facundo Negri, seemingly Middle Eastern sort of sonic palettes and his guitar leads over the four-and-a-half-minute song. The artist brings in drummer/percussionist Paarth Koser, bassist Kylan Amos and violinist Amanda Burgos.

In the sepia-toned video directed by Farheen Fatima, Singh is seen rather regal-looking, in a bid to reflect the broad themes that drive “Land of Gold,” with the filming taking place at Suraj Theater in Panchkula, Chandigarh.

Watch the video for “Land of Gold” below. Stream/buy the song here.
