Doctors have ordered singer to drop week of shows

Elton John has been hospitalized for a serious respiratory infection, TMZ reports. The singer checked into Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles early yesterday and underwent a series of tests. Doctors ordered John not to perform for a solid week, insisting that he needs complete rest and antibiotic treatment to prevent further damage to his body.
As a result of the bed rest, John has canceled four scheduled concerts in Las Vegas this week. “It feels strange not to be able to perform these Million Dollar Piano concerts at the Colosseum,” John said in a statement to TMZ. “I love performing the show and I will be thrilled when we return to the Colosseum in October to complete the 11 concerts.”
