Hindi/Gujarati lyricist Priya Saraiya is one of the six artists who are part of Rolling Stone India and TuneCore India’s new editorial campaign ‘Emerge.’

‘Emerge’ will profile and chronicle the lives of six breakout artists from across India: Saraiya, Oriya rapper Big Deal, Assamese singer Antara Nandy, Bengali artist Rupam Islam, Punjabi musician Gurnazar and Haryanvi artist Vishvajeet Choudhary. Discover more about each artist’s process of making music and why they chose TuneCore to put their music out into the world.

In this video, the singer-songwriter tells us more about why music makes her happy as well as her reasons behind choosing TuneCore as the digital distributor for her music. “For me it’s an amazing platform because I was completely unaware about the strategies to promote my songs and finding the right reach. TuneCore has made it easy and convenient for me any many other aspiring and established artists.”

In addition to being a playback singer for Bollywood as well as the Gujarati film industry, Saraiya has composed, written and produced several tracks of her own, including the highly popular Gujarati tracks “Pritam Ni” and “Mele Thi.” She writes and sings in both Hindi and Gujarati, often even adding her own lyrics and changes to tracks she happens to cover.

“It makes my soul very happy whenever I perform onstage or write a song,” she explains about why she chose to pursue a career in making music. On being an independent artist and being able to release music her way, she says, “I am able to express my views and my opinions freely without being judged by anyone.”
