The single leads the group's first studio album 'Dimension: Dilemma’
Fourth-generation group ENHYPEN switch gears in their latest release, “Tamed-Dashed.” Channeling refreshed youthful personas, the South Korean septet display a distinct summery, pop soundscape, strikingly different from their fantasy-driven, dark April 2021 release, “Drunk-Dazed.”
Produced by HYBE Label’s chairman and renowned producer Bang Si-Hyuk alongside Wonderkid, “Tamed-Dashed” elucidates the conundrum one faces when positioned to either be tamed by their desires or run away from them: “Should I be tamed/ Flash of desire enchanting me/ Dreams beautiful/ And grotesque/ Keep changing shape.”
Characterized by guitar riffs and synth, the single reflects the group’s fresh soundscape, bringing back peak summer vibes. Rooted in a high-school universe, the music video sees ENHYPEN shift from the corridors of a high school to a rugby field and pearly white sandy beaches, where the group display a strong bond of friendship and brotherhood.
The video can also be viewed as a commentary on ENHYPEN’s growth to date. From the halls of high school to the stage, the members came together to fulfill a larger artistic goal. Driven by their love for all things music and performance, there is a scene on the music video where the members walk through a dense forest– a visual viewers last saw when the members made their way to the sets of I-Land as participants of the reality television show, eventually winning a spot in the final lineup for ENHYPEN.
Dimension: Dilemma is the group’s second release this year and their first studio album. The eight-track record features a collaboration with TOMORROW X TOGETHER’s Yeonjun; the rapper features on the sixth track “Blockbuster,” which he also co-wrote.
