Eshita Chowdhury and Anurag Mishra come together on "Ek Bholi Si."
On her debut Hindi song “Ek Bholi Si,” singer-songwriter Eshita Chowdhury teams up with composer Anurag Mishra to explore just how innocent love can be.
A breezy tune featuring lyrics by Dev Pandey and production from Hrishi Giridhar (from Anand Bhaskar Collective), “Ek Bholi Si” comes as Massachusetts-based Chowdhury’s first of more releases. While there’s undoubtedly a hook in the song, Chowdhury says they wanted to “break away from conventional song structures and themes.” She adds, “[We] opted for a more nuanced narrative that unfolds gradually throughout the track.” Mishra says, “We have tried a very light, chill, easy-listening vibe. It has a lot of analogies and tries to create a visual picture through the lyrics. The point of difference is that this song does not try to shout itself from the roof and the minimalism is its stand out point.”
With the lyrics taking on different perspectives on young love, Chowdhury vocals seem right out of a romance film. “It was about pushing boundaries and offering something fresh and captivating to our audience, setting a new tone for our musical journey,” she adds.
Mishra, for his part, is all praise for Chowdhury. “She sounds very professional, and her training and skill are on full showcase here. It becomes so easy for the composer, when the singer is talented and fully committed too,” he says.
Chowdhury says she and Mishra have “built a great rapport and understanding” after working on “Ek Bholi Si,” and it’s already been followed by their second single “Ishq Firozi.” Mishra adds, “I don’t want to reveal much but you may see a couple more releases from this duo this year. Stay tuned as we are very excited for our next track, as it is in my favorite zone of Sufism.”
