Cosmic Infusion may have debuted their self-titled EP a good three years ago, but the Mumbai symphonic black metallers are still reeling from the mayhem of the 2013 launch gig. Frontman and keyboardist Sushan Shetty recalls, “This particular gig was something else. The place was packed; people started chanting ”˜Cosmic! Cosmic!’ after our set and that was surreal. Nobody in the band can forget that.”

Luckily, the band’s live DVD Rise of the Funeral Smoke””which captures the Blue Frog performance in its entirety and was released later that year””ensures that their corpse-painted “Cosmic Infusion army” won’t forget the show either.

“Burial of Thy Own”, which is the first clip from the DVD, records Cosmic Infusion performing to a packed house, with Riju Dasgupta aka Dr. Hex [of horror metallers Albatross] guesting on bass. “’Burial of Thy Own’ is a song that deserved a music video, is what we felt,” says Shetty. “It’s like an anthem for the Cosmic Infusion army.” The video sees a maniacal Shetty leading the five-member band through the crowd favourite, stepping away from the mic to let the crowd take over with the refrain “I celebrate the burial of thy own!”

Cosmic Infusion are currently working on a full-length album, which is due later this year. Says Shetty, “Since it’s going to be some time for the new album we thought we should put something out before that. The Cosmic Infusion army has been so supportive, and this video is what the world deserved to see.”
