Producers Aman Vanjani and Jay Punjabi team up with Los Angeles artist StarChildYeezo
Right in time ahead of Valentine’s Day, Mumbai-bred pop producer duo 31 Stars have launched their playful debut single “Catch A Vybe,” teaming up with Los Angeles-based songwriter and musician StarChildYeezo aka Donye’a Goodin.
In their quest to redefine pop music coming from India, producers Jay Punjabi and Aman Vanjani leverage their entrepreneurial as well as creative bent for the euphoric and tropical tune. While Punjabi is director of India operations at the artificial intelligence-led label SNAFU records, he also works as chief operating officer at Cali Recording Studio in Mumbai, which is founded by Vanjani. The duo originally met in London where Vanjani was studying music production and Punjabi was working in music management.
Vanjani recalled in an Instagram post, “This journey started off in 2016 from Jay managing me when I was producing music as Backclash, which took us to L.A. where we worked on music with some very talented artists, singers and songwriters. This was the start of something special! A bond that then led us to start a duo artist project together called 31 Stars,” Vanjani says.
They describe “Catch A Vybe” as a song for the lovebirds. “You can listen to literally anywhere – on a drive, in a nightclub, or while laying down on the beach on a sunny Sunday afternoon. We wanted to create a fun, love song that everyone can relate to. This is a song which you can relate to when you fall in love at first sight,” Punjabi says.
Whilst in Los Angeles to work with StarChildYeezo on the song, 31 Stars also worked with more pop songwriters over a period of a month. The results will be heard on their upcoming four-track EP, releasing on SNAFU later this year.
