Exclusive Premiere: Ambient Artist Eashwar Subramanian and composer V3K’s Ode ‘Kerala To Munich’

Commissioned by the Kerala Samajam in Munich, the track also features singer Ramya Vijayakumar aka Moeha

Boat races, nadaswaram and ambient music are invoked on “Kerala to Munich,” the latest song by Bengaluru-based producer Eashwar Subramanian, singer-composer Vivek Radhakrishnan aka V3K and vocalist Ramya Vijayakumar aka Moeha. While it’s a striking fusion on its own, the track was interestingly commissioned by non-profit organization Kerala Samajam in Munich, to mark their 50th anniversary.

Subramanian says the organization’s core member Ganesh Natarajan – also his cousin – reached out in October to create a theme. “The only brief I had was a nice theme which incorporated elements of Kerala instruments,” Subramanian adds. Connected to V3K and his label/studio Glitch Collective since Subramanian’s days at music school Rainbow Bridge in Bengaluru, the two were looking for just the right time to collaborate when “Kerala to Munich” was commissioned. Radhakrishnan, who also produces for hip-hop crew Street Academics, says, “I come from an electronic music background, a fusion between Eashwar’s ambient magic and my electronic elements was always in my mind, but for this project Eashwar called me up one day and asked if I could add some vocals with a vibe of Kerala.”

In addition to a instantly memorable nadaswaram lead that serves as the hook on the track, there’s nostalgic Malayalam vocals from Radhakrishnan about Kerala and saccharine vocal harmonies added by Moeha.  Listen to the track below.
