Exclusive Premiere: Elemental Deliver Punishing Death Metal On New Single ‘Devil’s Incest’
The Bhopal band will release their long-awaited debut EP in February
The last time we spoke to Bhopal death metal outfit Elemental, they were working to release their debut full-length album Creation of the Damned in 2016. A few lineup overhauls later, things have finally stabilized for Elemental, who have now released their latest song “Devil’s Incest.”
The current lineup features vocalist Anchal Bhargava, drummer Vishesh Singh (from New Delhi death metallers Fragarak), guitarist Ravi Kumar (from the capital’s extreme metal band High Frequency) and bassist Divyanshu Gupta (from fellow Bhopal death metal act KillKount). They’ve all contributed to their latest single and the forthcoming EP, due in February. Bhargava says about the band, “With new lineup we have seen the capabilities and variation in playing. Trust me when I say this, we are going to play fast, very fucking fast.”
The process of gelling has been on show at their recent gigs in Manipur (at the two-day Ground Zero gig in June) and in Pune, at gig series Metal Brunch on October 7th. Bhargava says about finding their place and fighting for relevancy in the Indian metal sphere, “I don’t believe any of the indie metal bands have settled down with their spots in the scene, so everyone is still fighting for the jewel.” Elemental’s contribution is the relentless, razor-edged “Devil’s Incest,” delivered at breakneck speed. The track was produced at Germany’s Kohlekeller Studio, whose previous album credits include death metal veterans such as Benighted and Aborted.
With drums already recorded for their five-track EP, Bhargava says Kumar and Gupta are in the studio recording guitars and bass, respectively. The vocalist adds, “With the new members and undying support from our fans, we are widening our reach every day. We have some international tours on the our card next year and we are working towards it.”
