When New York-based pop artist Keagan met Jammu and Kashmir-bred singer-songwriter Kaxi last year, the two instantly hit it off. The pair went on to work on music together, however, never had any plans on releasing that material. Kaxi says, “One day, on FaceTime, we just decided that we’d release an EP.” Keagan adds, “It was the most fluid writing process I had ever been a part of.” Their eight-track collaborative project ctrl alt delete released today.

According to the artists, the new record is filled with a rollercoaster of emotions and the narrative follows a love story. “It’s super fun in the beginning but turns cold,” says Keagan. The songs fall in the general pop category and include upbeat tunes (“no!,” “idk,” and “sneakers”) as well as melancholic ditties (“basement,” “papercuts,” “up 2 you (loser)”). Kaxi says, “Every song would incite a different feeling in your body.”

In terms of promoting the music, the artists want to keep it organic and plan on sending the record out to playlist curators and YouTube channels to include. Next up for Kaxi is an EP he plans on releasing in 2021 while Keagan wants to hone his skills as a producer. The two also want to continue collaborating. Kaxi says, “Keagan and I are still going to keep working on new tracks together.” Keagan adds, “Collectively I’m sure the two of us will be a dynamic duo for years to come, maybe even release another project.”
