Continuing their collaborative run with artists from India and around the globe, composer/producer duo The Fortune call on New Delhi singer-songwriter Aronjoy Das for a piano based acoustic version of their single “Lost.”

The original version, featuring Russian singer Julia Nem, was released in March. The Fortune’s composer Dr. Dhananj Shivganesh and Nikhil Pradip had also tapped New Delhi artist The Earflower Experiment aka Astaaq Ahmed to provide lyrics and the acoustic version also features additional piano work from Italy’s Luca Longoni. While there’s electric guitars and dreamy synth on the version featuring Nem, The Fortune keep things minimal and forlorn on “Lost (Acoustic),” whose lyrics are described by Shivganesh as “the unsaid words of the heart” in the aftermath of a heartbreak. He adds, “The melody was composed first and here, the melody represents one’s state of mind, which is why the melody is more static. The piano is intended as more of a textural sound, juxtaposing the empathy of the protagonist.”

Created remotely between all the collaborators – Shivganesh in Raipur, his bandmate Nikhil Pradip in Chennai, Gurugram-based Das (who also fronts prog bands Gaia and Common Thread) and New Delhi-based Ahmed – is The Fortune’s third release this year.
