The clip features the musician and actress Saloni Pandey spending time with one another in a joyous manner
Kolkata singer-songwriter Aaryan Banthia initially started off his music career fronting a band called The Bombay Gramaphone Company before he began writing his own songs. The musician would go on to release a Hindi track titled “Yaadein” as well as earlier this year he dropped the guitar-heavy “Back In The Day.” Now, Banthia is back with his charming new single “Hey Betty,” accompanied by a delightful music video.
The country music leaning track includes vibrant acoustic guitar parts, a scintillating solo and Banthia’s colorful vocals. The idea for the track came to the singer-songwriter while he was reminiscing about his own childhood. He says, “’Hey Betty’ is symbolic of that first crush or the first kiss, which stays with us forever and brings a smile on our face every time we think of it. This song is dedicated to all of us young and old alike.” Banthia adds, “If ‘Betty’ is the one that got away, remember the good times. Weren’t they beautiful!”
In the video – shot by Mumbai production company The Fictionary – we see Banthia and actress Saloni Pandey driving around Kolkata, walking through quaint streets and spending time in a field with a horse. “We were going for a rustic country vibe and hence we chose Kolkata,” says the singer-songwriter.
Banthia produced and recorded the song himself at his home studio while Sayan Ghosh mixed it and Greg Calbi from Sterling Sounds in the U.S. mastered the track. During the lockdown, the singer-songwriter has had time to reflect and discover himself more and has found a passion for film scoring too. “I miss the stage a lot. But overall, I have been keeping myself busy and occupied,” he says. Down the road, Banthia is readying more music to be released soon.
