Kolkata metal band Yonsample might have kept things relatively light on their last single “Median,” released in 2014, but their new song is nothing close to being in that space. Says bassist Anirban Banerjee about “Tibro,” which is the second single off their upcoming album Extropy, “This song represents the core element of the band’s sound, which is groove metal or prog-core or modern metal. [It’s] much more guitar-driven.”

“Tibro,” which Banerjee points out is “orbit” spelled backwards, also translates to “high intensity” in Bengali. A treat to a fan of djent and modern metal, the five-minute track has a dreamy guitar tapping section at its base, plus a chaotic riffwork that will get heads bobbing.

Part of the 10-track album which has been in the works since 2014, Extropy will release on December 16th. A new lineup and launch gigs are also in the works. Although the band started out working with Kolkata producer Rhitabrata Kar at RBK studios more than a year ago, recording for Extropy was completed at Delhi guitarist-producer Keshav Dhar’s [from prog metallers Skyharbor] Illusion Studio in May.
