On their latest single “Heroes of Time”, Pune thrash metallers Anarchy dive into high-voltage guitar shredding, winding solos and sci-fi storytelling”” even as they offer a dead giveaway to their upcoming concept album. “Conceptually, this song is like a spoiler,” says guitarist Ameet Kulkarni. “It’s about five superhero-like characters [the “heroes of time”] who founded a separate nation after a civil war broke out.”

“Heroes of Time,” which was composed in September 2015, marks Anarchy’s return after two singles and almost two years of inactivity, and is also the last track featuring vocalist Tabish Khidir [also of doom metal act Dirge]. But Kulkarni promises it’s the first of much more to come, as the band””also comprising guitarist Aditya Swaminathan, bassist Neeraj Diwan and drummer Harshvardhan Gore””prep for their nine-track debut, due later this year.

Much before they release their first full-length, however, Anarchy will perform newer material off the album at metal gig Dawn of the Legion II this Sunday. Although they already have a new vocalist in place, Kulkarni refrains from revealing who will front the band. “I want to keep it in suspense until the show. I don’t want to ruin the surprise,” he says.
