Back in March, Circle of Fifths bassist Daanish Kabir told us that all the songs on the Mumbai-based instrumental band’s upcoming debut album “have a different vibe to each of them,” and that “none of the songs are interconnected with another.” While the angsty sophomore single “Aura” combined classic alt-rock riffs with metal-style breakdowns, their latest track “Aesthetic” takes a brighter route.

Kabir says, “This is the first track we composed as a band in 2013, but along the way we made a few changes as we progressed as musicians and our influences changed.” Much of the track’s vibrance also comes from producer and [avant-garde metal band] Amogh Symphony guitarist and founder Vishal J Singh’s guest solos: “We always had Vishal in mind because he’s one of the best guitar players in the country,” explains Kabir.

Circle of Fifths [also comprising guitarists Vivek Singha and Tanay Kasera and drummer Terence Pascal] are currently wrapping up their full-length debut album Phases, which they plan to release as soon as they have a tour in place. Says Kabir, “We’re trying to back up the album release with a tour; this is the first time we’re doing something like this so we want the best response and outcome possible.”
