In 2011, when bassist Akshat Vaze put together a cover band with his former bandmate and guitarist Saket Dekhane for Max Mueller Bhavan, Pune’s annual Fête de la Musique, he hardly anticipated that five years later, he’d be the only remaining member. The co-founding member of Pune alt metal act What Google Can’t Find (WGCF)  may also not have premeditated his own ability to keep the band afloat long enough for a full-length debut–“We never really thought we’d progress as a band,” he explains.

As of now, the lineup comprises Vaze, vocalist Akshay Gaikwad, guitarists Gaurav Kakar, Clinton Moniz and Bob Alex [also of experimental metallers Noiseware and post rock act Aswekeepsearching] and drummer Arjun Menon. The all-new WGCF have ditched the German punk/industrial covers (save for a rendition of Rammstein’s “Mutter” on their 2011 debut EP Stigma) and moved on to themes relating to ‘self and other’ on their upcoming album Introspect / Retrospect. Case in point: the first single “Something About The Time (Retrospect)” - all crunchy grooves and livewire introspection–talks about “all the things that change us, and to what degree our choices affect our future.”

Says vocalist Akshay Gaikwad, “The basic story [of the album] is about a guy who meets a girl in a crowded place and the conversation they’re having. They go their separate ways but their lives change completely. So this song is about him thinking about parts of that conversation, and how the things leading up to it changed his life.”
