Considering how intense Ahmedabad/Pune rock band Aswekeepsearching get on the closing track off their second album Khwaab, one might think the title “B-303” is a reference to some kind of weapon, but vocalist-guitarist Uddipan Sarmah explains that it takes from the house number of his headquarters, BlueTree Studios, in Ahmedabad.
The song, which also closes the band’s live sets on an aggressive high, is consistent with how Sarmah described Khwaab, which released worldwide on October 12th via Russian label Flowers Blossom in the Space. Says Sarmah, “[On Khwaab] There’s a lot of crescendos, strings, bells, piano and xylophones. I don’t think it’s post-metal, though.”
Recorded earlier this year with help from crowdfunding, Khwaab releases in India tomorrow [October 15th,] a day before the band heads out on their first ever international tour, hitting four cities in Russia between October 16th and 25th. Owing to bassist Bob Alex’s work schedule, however, Aswekeepsearching will play in Russia as a three-member band, with Shawn Gurung on keys and guitar and drummer Gautam Deb joining Sarmah. The frontman jokes, “Bob will be playing through the soundcard.”
