The two rappers show off their vocal skills in the endearing new track from SM STATION X 0
After several teasers on social media over the past few weeks, South Korean boy group EXO’s Chanyeol and Sehun have unveiled the colorful new music video for “We Young.” The rappers surprised listeners by showing off their vocal chops on the bright, endearing track from SM Entertainment’s STATION X 0.
In the clip, Chanyeol and Sehun are seen standing on a rotating platform which allows the video to switch between scenes with every turn. The visuals are playful and cheerful with the rappers spending quality time together, showing off their hobbies, dancing and having a drink. Highlights include the duo’s dance scene in what appears to be a mechanic shop and the final bit of choreography featuring several back up dancers on a dreamy hill-top.
The melody on “We Young” is refreshing and has an innocent, childlike feel to it thanks to the bright splashes of upbeat piano and tinkling pop percussion. Lyrically, the track encourages listeners to keep going and working hard no matter what life throws at them and reminds them to celebrate their youth: “You gonna feel it, don’t worry/Even if the rain comes we are the blue spring day/We gon’ make it, we gon’ make it alright/You don’t have to pretend to be okay,” and “Don’t worry, no matter what it is/It doesn’t matter where you are/Throw away the past, you can cover your ears for a bit/So we don’t stay down/Cause we young.” The track features several soft harmonies and sees Chanyeol display several impressive adlibs and falsettos.
Chanyeol and Sehun have performed “We Young” live before during EXO’s ‘The Eâ„“yXiOn’ tour in July. Several fans have voiced their approval of the collaboration between the two rappers and some have even suggested they form a sub-unit to release more content as a duo:
