After a successful first edition featuring Mumbai alt rockers Last Remaining Light and Bengaluru-based rock band D’s Kitchen in August, The Broken Roads Tour returned with an all-new version last week. The headlining band, Bengaluru’s metalcore act Final Surrender, played a show each in Pune and Bengaluru, with supporting acts blues/rock band The Tripp and prog rockers Pineapple Express, respectively.

This month, Final Surrender will travel to Mysuru, Chennai and Mumbai to promote their third album Nothing But Void which they released at their Bengaluru gig. Says drummer Jared Sandhy, “I’m just hoping to have good fun, play good gigs and hope that people come out and buy the CD.” Final Surrender’s association with the tour came about after Sandhy met with Subhash Rao, the brains behind the series, and discussed the possibility of a cross-country launch. On his part, Rao says he didn’t have to think twice about it. “I’d heard them [the band] on numerous occasions, so I was on board in a jiffy,” he says. Talking about adding Mysuru to the tour, the promoter adds, “The city has a great indie music following.” He feels that the multi-artist lineup and inclusion of more cities means there is something for everyone. “I’ve been getting calls from people across the country asking us whether we’d be turning up in their city.”

While groove metal band Quarantine and alt rockers Decode will support Final Surrender in Mysuru, singer-songwriter Stevie And The Band will open for them at their Chennai show. The supporting act for their Mumbai gig is yet to be announced.
