Five8 Independent release [Three stars]

Published by

This Delhi-based band works Eighties rock mojo into funk-toned splendour on its debut EP. This cohesive unit possesses some incredible guitar chops, striking vocal chords and a whole lot of funk motion to deliver happy concert endings. ”˜After Sex’ is charged up to take on the grand stadium sound with its racy pulse and shout aloud chorus. ”˜I Can’t’ follows suit, but its got a catchy with a fast rolling hook. While snappy basslines and a groovy guitar line drive ”˜Funktuation,’ it’s the svelte melodic sections played up by soft keys and vocal swoons that steal. ”˜Believe’ captures softer melodic textures with an INXS like pop-rock vibe on the chorus. While this EP almost makes the cut, what kills this experience is the horribly bland at times naive lyricism.

Key Tracks: ‘Funktuation’ and ‘I Can’t’
