Florence Welch Returns to Dance With Herself in New Video

Florence Welch partners with herself for an intimate dance in the new clip for “How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful,” the first taste of Florence and the Machine’s as-yet-untitled new album.

The short video, directed by Tabitha Denholm and Vincent Haycock, finds the singer and her doppelgänger clutching each other and moving gracefully on the stone stage of a gorgeous amphitheater. Their moves become more deliberate and desperate as the song builds, with budding horns blossoming into a majestic fanfare that ultimately dissipates as one Welch leaves the other and enters the woods.

Little else is known about the follow-up to Florence and the Machine’s 2011 LP, Ceremonials, though Welch did preview the album Monday night for a select group of family and friends ”” including the XX, Jessie Ware and Daisy Lowe ”” at a listening party in London. The album includes tracks titled “Ship to Wreck,” “Caught,” “Delilah” and “What Kind of Man.”

Florence and the Machine already have numerous live shows lined up for the summer in support of their forthcoming third LP. Welch and Co. will hit three major U.S. festivals ”” Coachella, Bonnaroo and Governors Ball ”” before heading over to Europe.

While Florence and the Machine have remained mostly quiet since they finished touring behind 2011’s Ceremonials, the group did contribute the track, “Over the Love,” to the Jay Z-produced soundtrack for The Great Gatsby. The band has also made a handful of live appearances, playing Neil Young’s annual Bridge School Benefit Concert last fall, as well as The Sound of Change charity concert ”” a “female Live Aid” promoting women’s empowerment around the world ”” in 2013 alongside Beyoncé and Madonna.
