Watch Metal Act Flying Cupid’s Action Packed Animated Video for ‘Into The Light’

Abhiruk Patowary, multi-instrumentalist and producer behind metal act Flying Cupid, knows all about the stereotypes about heavy music projecting a “dark” aesthetic. However the New Delhi musician says, “I visualize metal and music I write with more color.” Patowary proves just that with his roving new animated music video “Into The Light,” featuring vocalist (and his current band manager) Lukas Magyar from American modern metallers Veil of Maya.

Animated by Davie Brown into a fantasy realm that plays out like a videogame mission, “Into The Light” was commissioned by Patowary with inputs on the storyline as well as nudges to add “spacey elements.” Featuring animated avatars of Magyar, Patowary, drummer Nathan Bulla (from Canadian instrumental act Intervals) and bassist Abhishek Pillay (Patowary’s bandmate in metal act Gaia), there’s a central plot of a character who enters a temple to find “spirit entities” and is transported into an afterlife of sorts. “He is then faced with struggle to find his way out, which is a metaphor about fighting his personal demons and finding his way ‘back to the light’ to return to this plane of reality. It closes with the character victorious, having completed his journey and ending with him looking up to a beautiful sunlit sky surrounded by an oasis,” Patowary says in a statement.

The video is one amongst three more music videos coming out from The Flying Cupid’s debut full-length album All Turns To Dust. The record’s collaborator’s is a packed lineup of artists from around the globe. Magyar features on two tracks, New Delhi crooner-producer Aditya Paul on two tracks, New Zealand metal act Crooked Royals’ vocalists Lee Mackley and Christian Carstensen feature on one track, Parisian metallers Kadinja’s vocalist Philippe Charny Dewandre guests on two tracks and Australian metal band I Built The Sky’s Rohan Stevenson features on one track. Patowary says, “This is sort of a promo album to build leverage for my solo project.”

The next single is expected in April, a song called “Storm” which features Dewandre, while the song release after that is set for May, one that Patowary calls his “biggest collaboration yet.”
