On Saturday the Foo Fighters made their sixth appearance as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live. It was the 10th time Dave Grohl has been on the show as a musical performer, including appearances as a drummer with Nirvana, Tom Petty and Them Crooked Vultures. Grohl is currently the musician with the greatest number of appearances as a musical guest on the show. (Paul Simon has been on the show 11 times, but was only a host for two of those shows.)
In addition to playing fierce renditions of “Walk” and “Rope” from the Foos’ latest album Wasting Light, the always-amusing Grohl also appeared in two of the night’s sketches. Hopefully the next time he graces the SNL stage, it will be as host and musical guest.
