Komorebi – “Nindiya”
Fresh off the release from her highly acclaimed full-length album The Fall earlier this year, New Delhi singer-producer Tarana Marwah aka Komorebi wasted little time by following it up with the single “Ud Ke Chali.” Now, she’s right back at it with another release, this time in the shape of the lush offering “Nindiya.” The track includes a wistful production touch as well as Komorebi’s hauntingly beautiful vocals. In a statement, the artist said, “’Nindiya’ is a soulful lullaby filled with the soothing promise of a mother’s love. The song celebrates the special bond between a mother and her child, with references to the moon, the sun, and the twinkling stars, all coming together to cradle the child in the sweet embrace of slumber.”
Natasha Noorani – RONAQ
Lahore singer-songwriter Natasha Noorani recently released her full-length debut album entitled RONAQ. The LP features Noorani’s brand of electro-pop music as she tapped the talents of producers Talal Qureshi and Abdullah Siddiqui to help her bring the record to life. In a statement, Noorani said, “The album varies in its theme across friendship and loss and dreams of self-actualization. The overall sound of the album lays its foundations in analog synth sounds of which I’ve tried to create melodies that are fresh R&B/pop but rooted very much in the desi music I’m surrounded by.”
Summersalt – “Survive”
Shillong folk-fusion band Summersalt recently released the fourth single, the poignant “Survive,” off their upcoming sophomore album. The track includes a delicate arrangement featuring guitar, bass, drums and piano as well as vocalist Kit Shangpliang’s emotive singing. The new song is an ode to the band’s founding member and bassist Baiaineh C Shangpliang aka Nah, who they lost in 2020. Shangpliang said in a statement, “I had no clue what I was writing ‘Survive’ for. After our member and brother’s passing away, utterly bitter but utterly purpose-driven, ‘Survive’ turned out to be one of those songs closest to us. The song still dwells on practical optimism and a way to celebrate life that was and life that will be.”
Tanay Parulekar, ATHRV, ruhdabeh – “Citylights”
Mumbai artists, producers Tanay Parulekar and ATHRV and singer-songwriter ruhdabeh team up on the moody “Citylights.” The song includes an alternative electro-fusion soundscape while ruhdabeh’s excellent vocals shine throughout. In a statement, the artists said, “’Citylights’ captures the beauty of the hustling life in Mumbai city sonically as well as visually, talking about how a city that never sleeps is the perfect place for anyone who dares to dream.”
