Tyesha Kohli – “I Wish You’d Let Me Go Sooner”

Fresh on the heels from her debut single “Midnight Lover” earlier this year, New Delhi singer-songwriter Tyesha Kohli is now back with a glossy melancholic offering titled “I Wish You’d Let Me Go Sooner.” The track includes a delicate keyboard arrangement while Kohli’s vocal prowess and poignant lyrics stand out. In a statement, Kohli said, “Throughout the songwriting process, I also realized that as compared to my other songs and their titles being heavily metaphorical, this one was more straightforward and could be easily read as a conversation between two people.”

Vasuda Sharma, Siddharth Basrur and Nanok – “Yeh Dillagi”

Mumbai singer-songwriter Vasuda Sharma (also part of folk-pop band Sharma and the Besharams), producer Jai Vaswani aka Nanok and vocalist-producer Siddharth Basrur (from rock project Runt) come together for an Eighties-themed pop song “Yeh Dillagi.” Sonically the song teems with nostalgia with its Phil Collins-esque drum sounds as well as the use of heavy synths and a very electro vibe outro. Sharma and Basrur both share vocal duties across the song as their voices blend to create some scrumptious harmonies at certain sections. “’Yeh Dillagi’ is a search for true love. It’s about having that strong feeling inside of finding that special someone you are meant to be with, someone you can be yourself with. A feeling that’s worth holding on to,” the artists said in a statement.

Niranjan Menon, Aromal Chekaver and Artemis Fall – “Castle In The Sky”

Another collaboration amongst today’s picks comes from singer-songwriter/producer Niranjan Menon, Kerala artist Aromal Chekaver and teenage producer Artemis Fall in the shape of their English-Malayalam offering “Caste In The Sky.” The song features a percussive tabla beat in the background while modern production elements and the artists wavy vocals, as well as a hooky melody after each chorus, make this song quite a banger.

Scarr. feat. MEHR – “Trails”

Pune electronic producer Yash Salvi aka Scarr. enlists New Delhi singer-songwriter MEHR on his latest moody single “Trails.” MEHR’s elegant vocals are rested on a bed of delicate acoustic guitar strains as well as ambient soundscapes that play to the song’s strengths. In a statement, Salvi said, “The song is about finally being able to step outside the darkness but fearing the light that falls, although you’ve waited a long time to see it.” He added, “Of being so stuck in a past relationship or past in general that you remain oblivious to someone or something who’s leaving you trails to step into the light again.”

Aanchal Shrivastava – “Chalat Musafir”

Mumbai-based singer-songwriter Aanchal Shrivastava’s quirky new single “Chalat Musafir” draws plenty from her influences of folk music with contemporary elements. The fresh track is doused with dholak and harmonium parts as well as upbeat guitars and drums while Shrivastava’s energetic vocals take center stage. “The song is a happy vibe to love, that comes unexpectedly on a regular random day and your heart gets stuck,” says the artist. “Chalat Musafir” also comes with a charming, animated video directed and created by Mumbai’s Arena Animation.
