NIMBU – “Fish Food”

“Fish Food” by New York-based artist NIMBU dives into the depths of organized crime lore, melding historical references with a modern twist. The track, a “mob-wife” inspired anthem, intricately weaves narratives of love, betrayal, and resilience. NIMBU’s quick-witted verses take listeners on a global tour of organized crime, referencing figures like John Gotti and fictional mob bosses. The title and chorus, referencing the Mafia’s euphemism for the deceased as “fish food,” juxtapose violence with playfulness, reflecting on the hidden world of crime. Backed by diverse instrumentation and influenced by South Asian sonics, NIMBU’s production creates a symphony of sounds, making “Fish Food” a feast of sonic and lyrical exploration.

Shal Antal – “Rubik’s Cube”

“Rubik’s Cube” by Mumbai-bred singer-songwriter Shal Antal encapsulates nostalgia and introspection, stemming from the artist’s personal journey. Inspired by the iconic puzzle, the song delves into the complexities of youth and the pressure to conform to societal expectations. As the artist reflects on their schooling years and the struggle to fit in, the “Rubik’s Cube” becomes a symbol of the challenges faced in navigating adolescence. With its minimalist pop singer-songwriter style, the track serves as a poignant exploration of self-discovery and the quest for authenticity amidst the pressures of perfectionism.

Gaurav Jagwani, Shivang Arora – “Away”

“Away” by Mumbai-based singer-songwriter Gaurav Jagwani and featuring vocalist Shivang Arora is a soulful creation born from a simple guitar riff during a reflective 2017 evening. The track, characterized by its dreamy aura, is enriching with its depth and atmosphere. Arora’s vocals add layers of emotive resonance while Jagwani’s songwriting paints pictures through his lyrics.

Jamna Paar – “Déjà vu”

New Delhi duo Jamna Paar’s latest offering “Deja Vu” marks the debut single from their upcoming album Between a Memory and a Dream. The track includes a captivating blend of Indian instruments, synthesized melodies, and subtle electronica. The duo’s intention is to craft a sonic voyage through the realms of memory and the intricacies of love.
